👉Description   :  Wolf's body is yellow-brownish and sandy fawn. Its coat is striped with black. It has a long bushy tail with darker tip and a large skull.



👉Food  :  Carnivorous. Preys upon deer, blackbuck, gazelle, hares, foxes, birds, sheep, goats etc.



👉Distribution  :   In Gujarat, grasslands of Kachchh and Saurashtra regions including Velavadar National Park. Also occurs in Banaskantha, Surendranagar, Dahod, Panchmahal disttricts.



👉Habitat  :  In habits the grassland area and scrub forest, prosopis thickets.



👉Behaviour  :  It is usually crepuscular to nocturnal. It may hunt diurnally also. Takes shelter in caves, crevices, thickets of reeds and scrub etc. Digs burrows in sandy area during summer. Usually lives in closely bonded family packs.



👉Signs of presence   :   Pugmarks, droppings.



👉Population  :   About 400 - 500 in Gujarat.





👉The wolf is probably the most widely distributed truly carnivorous mammal in the world. Those individuals living in the vicinity of human settlements pose threat to the livestock as also small children. If such individuals are undergoing hunger, they prove to be a curse for people. The wolves living in the remote areas away from the human settlements hunt blackbuck, chinkara, hares, foxes and birds.
