👉Mongooses were killed in India before the total ban on the mongoose hair trade in the country. Previously, Indian companies supplied mongoose brushes to Nepal, but since the mongoose was put in Schedule Il of the Indian Wildlife Act, the trade was restricted and local establishments in Nepal have opened in Kathmandu to make mongoose paintbrushes. Three factories operate in Kathmandu that deal with mongoose hair. It is very much likely that mongoose hair trade still exists illegally in India as in a major raid on stationery and hardware stores, the Rajasthan police recently seized 1,254 illegal Mongoose hair brushes and detained five shopkeepers.
